The Greenhouse intern program is an opportunity to gain hands-on ministry experience by helping create an excellent environment for spiritual growth together with a dedicated team. While Greenhouse interns will gain marketable skills and references for building a resume, we believe the effectiveness of our work in ministry comes from the depth of our abiding in Jesus. For this reason, the top priority of our intern program is our interns’ spiritual growth and well-being.

Greenhouse internships come in many shapes and sizes. They may be full-time or part-time; fundraised, funded (via Canada Summer Jobs or the CanCov intern program), or unpaid. You may indicate on your application which kind of internship you are pursuing. You will receive the same quality spiritual care and ministry training whether your internship is paid or unpaid. Testimonials

"As an intern at Greenhouse, I felt I was taken care of by this organization not just for the work but for my soul. I could experience working with family." - JJ, Intern 2024

“Interning at Greenhouse equipped me to serve and minister to others. This internship gave me space to grow spiritually and more intimately with the Holy Spirit. I gained amazing training in disciple-making, worship and prayer. Greenhouse allowed me to know God's heart and begin spending more time with my Father.” - AM, Intern 2024

“I experienced so much joy serving my brothers and sisters in Christ and witnessing their growth in faith. Through this journey, God has guided me toward understanding His will and discovering my purpose. It was so worthy, fun, and life-giving!” - KY, Intern 2024

“During my internship, I gained confidence and skill with support-raising, and formed close relationships with fellow staff/interns and participants. I was able to apply my gifts and strengths to bless others, and at the same time, I was also painfully stretched and challenged. It was totally worth it, because I developed a higher capacity to love others and make disciples.” - TC, Intern 2024

“The greenhouse internship gave me the space to discover and gain experience in transformational discipleship. Through the program, I became well-equipped to foster a space for God to reach the deeper parts of my life, as well as the others. Seeing Him at work was truly a blessing and deepened my understanding of His heart towards His children.” - MC, Intern 2023

My Greenhouse internship grew my understanding of spiritual truths and discipling skills refreshed my walk with Jesus and equipped me to better minister to and serve others. I learned that true worship of God and the ability to help others in their walk with Jesus starts by nourishing my own relationship with Jesus and resting my heart in him.” - MW, Intern 2023

FAQs

Is the intern program right for me?

If you want to deepen your relationship with Jesus and work with a passionate team to create environments where others lay solid foundations for lifelong discipleship, then this program is right for you! You don’t need to aspire to a career in ministry to contribute to and benefit from the Greenhouse intern program! Our internships are as diverse as our applicants, ranging from highly relational (leading discipleship groups, training leaders, running community outreaches) to highly operational (planning retreats, managing budgets, overseeing communications) so that every kind of person can find a good fit.

I’m nervous about fundraising. Should I still apply for a full-time position?

Absolutely! We are deeply committed to walking alongside our interns so they have an excellent experience from start to end. Evaluating your fundraising prospects, securing helpful grants and stipends, and training you (from our decades of experience!) to fundraise successfully is a key element of our application and interview process. If we don’t think it would be healthy or good for you to fundraise, we will tell you! Applying just starts the conversation. Don’t let fundraising concerns prevent you from applying!

Can I choose the role I want?

Your development as a wholehearted and competent minister of Jesus’s gospel for a lifetime of fruitful ministry is our top priority! Rather than shoehorn you into pre-conceived roles, we craft Greenhouse around the calling and strengths of our staff and interns. We work with you to determine what role(s) would be most suitable for you based on your availability, gifting, developmental goals, and the needs of the program.
